Tiger I Basic Facts
The Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. E, more commonly known as the Tiger 1, is one of the most famous tanks of the Second World War. Mounting the infamous 88mm gun derived from the Flak 36 anti-aircraft gun, the tank was given the nickname Tiger by the Ministry for Armament and Ammunition on 7 August 1941 with the roman numeral I being added after the Tiger II entered production.
